Meet Lindelwa "Aushie" Matsebula
Born in Mbabane, Eswatini, in 1999, Lindelwa Matsebula discovered art of the age of three.
Guided by Swazi artist Lucky Mlotsa and later mentored by Mbongeni Fakudze, he pursued art after briefly studying civil engineering. He now runs his own studio at August House in Johannesburg.
Matsebula's practice is rooted in philosophy, spirituality and metaphysics, exploring consciousness, identity and the human experience through a distinctive visual language.
His achievements include the Outstanding Fine Artist Regional Award in Eswatini, a major commission for Eswatini Royal Insurance and teaching over 150 children through the Nhlakanipho Foundation. His work has been exhibited at Contra Art Fair, the Oxford and Glenhove Group Exhibition and multiple Meta Foundation exhibitions.
